Insulated crimping terminals
Insulated crimping terminals
Crimping terminals are used in electrical installation to connect cables or cable strands. In this category, you will find a wide selection of ring terminals, fork terminals and pin terminals. These are screwed during installation – unlike our push-on terminals, which simply have to be plugged in in order to create a connection.
Crimping terminals are used to safely connect cables and wires over long periods of time. The insulated contacts are zinc-electroplated, which ensures that the zinc sticks to the contact surface and prevents corrosion.
The insulation of the ring, fork and pin crimping terminals is made of vinyl. Ring and fork terminals can also be used to create a clamping contact with electrically conductive components by using a screw, which is connected to the component and clamped to one or more crimping terminals.
Ring and fork terminals
Ring crimping terminals can be used to additionally secure the terminal, depending on the area of application. In most cases, the colour of the insulation represents the cable diameter it should be used for.
Handling ring crimping terminals is very easy and safe. First, the insulation at the end of the cable needs to be stripped. After putting the crimping terminal in the right position, it needs to be secured with a proper tool. Ring terminals are most often used in the electrical and automobile industries.
What is the difference between fork and ring terminals? Fork terminals do not differ in many aspects beyond their appearance. The same features regarding colour and installation apply to them. The fork-shaped head also comes angled in some cases. Fork terminals are used in the automobile industry and for sound equipment, such as speaker cables.
